Guglie di Milano (Spiers of Milan) is a series of works on paper, which focus on a particular architectural element. The element is the spiers of Milan’s Cathedral. I have always been contemplating the spiers of the cathedral, with great charm and curiosity, for their extreme elegance, complexity and finesse. During my time in Milan I took repeated walks around the Gothic spiers, and each time I would discover something new (by that time, while I was attending Brera Accademy, I had already made several analog photographs, sketches, and written poems related to this architectural element).
With this series I wanted to focus on the concept of Discovery and Observation. My works show details of the Duomo in Milan, offer a relationship with the Gothic cathedral of Cologne and at the same time present a close consideration on my daily experiences in constant displacement between Italy and Germany.
